Built from the rim inwards: beaded coils on the outside, two bands of filigree discs, then a peacock standing among flowers on a ground of fine mesh. Nothing is meant to be laid on it. Plates of this kind go on a shelf or a wall, and have been given at Odia weddings for generations.
